Air Conditioning
Air Conditioning (AC)
Air conditioning is the process of controlling the temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and circulation of air inside a building, room, vehicle, or other enclosed space to improve comfort and indoor air quality.
How an Air Conditioner Works
An air conditioner removes heat and humidity from indoor air and transfers that heat outside using a refrigerant cycle. The main components are:
- Compressor – Pressurizes the refrigerant.
- Condenser Coil – Releases heat outdoors.
- Evaporator Coil – Absorbs heat from indoor air.
- Expansion Device/Valve – Regulates refrigerant flow.
Types of Air Conditioning Systems
- Window AC – Suitable for single rooms.
- Split AC – Indoor and outdoor units; common in homes and offices.
- Inverter AC – Energy-efficient and quieter operation.
- Central Air Conditioning – Used in large buildings, malls, and hotels.
- VRV/VRF Systems – Advanced multi-zone cooling for commercial spaces.
